We were momentarily captured
by the surprising beauty of a
young seal swimming before us.
Epiphany-like it revealed, then
slipped below the surface of
light--delighting us.
On this winter's day, the softness
and light of the water's edge at
the confluence of the river and
ocean was unexpected, and very
welcome!
Breathtaking beauty was
everywhere!
Epiphany is a time of dreaming and contemplation, of giving one's attention to the simplicity and potency of the
season of winter, and of trusting oneself to follow the threads of aliveness, curiosity and presence.
Four women, Suzan, Deborah, Judith and I set our to explore this time and place together.
We began with attention, curiosity and prayers.
We traveled the Three Capes winding road between the edges of the forest and the sea.
We witnessed the grandeur of the sea, the mystery of the headland forest.
We met a quiet guardian of the roiling sea below.
We walked the night beach, guided by the moon.
We wandered between the worlds of our known civilized home and
our less known wild nature home on our shared journey.

Most importantly, we traveled within.
