The Blue Basin is a cathedral-like ancient formation in central Oregon's John Day National Monument
area. Walking in along the seasonal creek on the 1/2 mile trail, we carry drums and flutes for the arrival
at the canyon end. We listen as the wind sings to us. The small birds dart about overhead, ever watchful
of our movements. We feel the quieting inside us as we find our separate places and watch the light and
shadows play upon the ancient faces of the cliffs surrounding us.
